He was born on March 8, 1932, to Garnel and Virginia Larsen, one of six boys, in Hyrum, Utah during the best of times. He married Sharon Miller in 1954 and had four children. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War and later joined the Arizona National Guard where he served 25 years. He worked for the State of Arizona for many years and was the first employee to learn to use a computer. He also did income tax and accounting in the Phoenix area.
After an early retirement, Clair and Sharon spent the next twenty years living their dream of collecting antiques and restoring old houses in Utah, Arizona, and Oklahoma. Their achievements were recognized in several newspaper and magazine articles. While living in Oklahoma, Clair was known as "the old man with the old guitar" for singing "old songs" to entertain residents at nursing homes. His favorite song was "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera. His favorite television show was "Gunsmoke." When Clair's health started to decline, they returned home to Arizona to be near family.
No services will be held at his request. His ashes will be saved until he is joined with his wife at their burial place in Hyrum, Utah, where they were born and raised. *(Needs verification if primary resting place.)
A special thanks to Noble Hospice and Arbor Rose employees for their compassionate care.
"I love you neither with my heart nor with my mind. My heart might stop. My mind can forget. I love you with my soul because my soul never stops or forgets." - From a valentine.
