YOUNGSTOWN – Thomas J. Chizmar, Sr., 69, passed away after a lengthy illness, early Thursday morning, March 17, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Thomas was born December 23, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of Rudy and Thelma Morlan Chizmar and lived in the area most of his life.

He was a graduate of 1970 Chaney High School, he worked for Sparkle Market at Lincoln Knolls and finished his career in maintenance with Mill Creek MetroParks, retiring in 2012.

Mr. Chizmar was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Tom was an avid fan of Ohio Sports teams, he enjoyed listening to music, studying genealogy, photography, and camping, but most of all, Tom enjoyed being a grandpa and boasting about his grandchildren.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Erin Ann Carney Chizmar whom he married October 16, 1993; his son, Thomas J. Chizmar Jr., of Parma Heights; two daughters, Geniene (Thomas W.) Hankey and Hannah Chizmar, both of Youngstown; two stepsons, Justin (Stephanie) Burgy of Austintown, Jacob Burgy of Youngstown; a stepdaughter, Kelly (AJ.) Tate of Hubbard; his mother, Thelma Chizmar of Youngstown; three brothers, Daniel E. Chizmar of Boardman, Michael C. (Ginger) Chizmar of Youngstown, and Joseph P. (Lynn) Chizmar of Rocky Point, North Carolina; his nine grandchildren, Anson Hankey, Aidan Hankey, Dominic Martucci, Caleb Daugherty, Scarlet Burgy, Camren Daugherty, Christian Burgy, Greyson Burgy and J.J. Tate, and many extended family members.

Tom will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd., Austintown.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
