OTIS' OBITUARY

Otis Lee Bass
3/25/35 – 3/11/22

Otis Lee Bass, of Bells Texas, age 86 passed away Friday March 11,2022 after a lengthy battle of Parkinson's disease. Otis was born March 25, 1935, in Desert Texas to Orville Sion and Virgie Mae Bass. Otis grew up on a farm with his 6 siblings where hard work was expected to keep the family farm running. He attended and graduated from Whitewright High School. He met Morrisann Ramsey from Bells, and after a brief courtship they eloped the night after her high school graduation in May 1959, along with Billie Ruth Galyon and Jerry Mac Johnson making it a double wedding. Otis served in the Army National Guard of Texas. They bought their first home in Bells, Texas on Broadway Street and still reside at the same address. Otis ran a milk route for 30 years before retiring in 1992. It seems appropriate that God called Otis home at 3:00 am which was the same time he would leave every morning to start his milk route all those years. He would work his milk route until 4:00 pm 6 days a week and then would go to the hay field and haul hay until midnight. Many remarked that he was surely the hardest working man around. Otis was a devoted husband, father, PeePaw and Uncle O. He touched so many lives with his kindness, caring and humor and was respected and loved by all. Otis took pride in having one of the prettiest yards in town and spent countless hours taking all the kids, grandkids and great grandkids for rides around the backyard on his John Deer mower.

Otis is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Morrisann Bass, his daughter and husband, Amy and Terry Brumley of Abilene; his son and wife, Todd and Kim Bass of Denison. Also, survived by brother in law and wife, Mike and Maudianne Ramsey; sister in law and husband Elaine and Johnny Sinor; brothers Eugene and Cliff Bass; sister Lovera Turner; Grandchildren, Taylor and Courtney Rand, Sarah and Case Wilson and Emma Bass; Great granddaughter Collins Wilson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Otis Sion and Virgie Mae Bass, brother Alvin Bass; sisters, Audrey Walters and Nola Chennalt; Mother in law, Bessie Ryon Ramsey; Father in Law, Morris G. Ramsey; sister in law, Bevin Barker Ramsey; niece Angie Ramsey and nephew Josh Ramsey.

The family will be at Fisher Funeral Home, 604 W Main St., Denison, TX for a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 pm.
