Matthias was disabled in some way; in the 1910 census said he was "deaf and dumb" (what an awful expression). Though he was living at home with mom and dad at the time of the 1910 census, he was most likely institutionalized for much of his life (as he was at the time of the 1920 and 1940 censuses). No 1930 census record was found for him. He died in 1954 and was buried in same plot as his father and mother, along with his maternal grandparents.
