Athens, AL - Henry Calvin Abernathy, 88, Athens, died Thursday at the Athens-Limestone Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Fred Evans officiating. Burial will be in O'Neal Cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy was a veteran of World War I and was a retired brick mason.
Survivors include his wife, Ovella Abernathy; two daughters, Ethel Clark and Gladys Brown, both of Athens; a stepdaughter, Peggy Powell of Athens; five sons, Thomas Abernathy of Chicago, Billy W. Abernathy and Dennis Abernathy of FL, Eugene Abernathy and Lifford D. Abernathy, both of Athens; two sisters, Mamie Claxton and Julia Collins, both of Athens; 22 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
