Obituary Edited To Protect The Privacy Of The Living

Helen L. Alden, 81, of Chillicothe Illinois, formerly Sparland, died on March 14, 2022 at her son's home in Belle Plaine Iowa. Born in Ohio to the late Alfred and Irene (Plant) Kennison, Helen was raised by her grandparents till she was in her teens. Helen Married Joseph Alden on June 16, 1958 in Miami Florida. Joe died May 4, 2008.

Helen was a hard worker, she worked at Specialty Packaging, and Cable Printing for many years. She also cleaned houses on the side. Helen ran Helen's Boutique making costume jewelry. She made cakes, candies and accessories for special events like weddings and showers for family and friends. Helen's biggest job though was raising children, even if it was other people, because she felt the need for young folks to have stability after not having it as a child. She was a board member of the Illinois lung Association, an avid bingo and bunco player and could always find a good yard sale. Don't forget she was famous for her baked beans.

Visitation for Helen will be held on Friday, March 18 from 5 to 7 PM with funeral service at 7 PM. Graveside burial will be at 12 noon on Saturday at the Lightsville Cemetery just north of Leaf River Illinois. Memorials can be made to the autism foundation or Saint Jude and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
