Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in Lemons Gap Cemetery, with Reverend Jim Mosely officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation was January 1, 2008, at Fry Bartlett Funeral Home.
Charley was born May 23, 1934, in Oplin to James A. and Nettie McBride Roberson. He married Shirley Lott November 23, 1975, in Tuscola. He lived in Buffalo Gap for thirty years before moving to Merkel in 2002. As a veteran of the U. S. Navy for 20 years, he served in the Korean Conflict and three tours in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His many duties in Vietnam included working as a mine sweeper clearing river channels. Following his military service he worked for Stevens Tank Company for two years and Lemons LP Gas Company for 15 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Jimmy Roberson.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Roberson of Merkel; two sons, David Lott and wife Gail of Casper, Wyoming, and John Lott and wife Brenda of Abilene; one daughter, Tammy Wallace and husband Brian of Valle De Oro, Texas; four grandsons, Kevin Javan Wallace, David Justin Wallace, Christopher Wallace, and Michael David Lott,; one great-granddaughter, Caylie Madelyn Wallace, one great-grandson Carter Javan Wallace; one niece, Brenda Engle; one nephew, Bruce Roberson; and his beloved dogs, Tee Jay and Pepe.
