Eugene R. Matias
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Forest Grove for Eugene R. "Gene" Matias, who died Nov. 1 at age 67. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Forest Grove Memorial Chapel. Mr. Matias was born April 25, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He held several positions for Ohio Bell for 21 years and later was a repairman, lineman and circuit troubleshooter for Pacific Northwest Bell before retiring in 1987. He moved to Beaverton in 1978 and later lived in Cornelius. He was a 55-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. In 1957, he married Marion Gupko; they divorced. In 1986, he married Janice Van Dyke.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Theresa Naylor; stepson, Chuck
Meeuwsen; stepdaughters, Nancy Alexander, Sandra Post, Karen Leber
and Brenda Bennett; brothers, Carl and Steve; and 11 grandchildren.
Interment in Mt. View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Forest Grove.
