Nelson Levi Hogan, 75, of Bedford, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 in Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born January 28, 1931, in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Raymond L. and Nellie J. Vaughan Hogan. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Nellie H. Leonard; two brothers, James "Buck" Hogan, Potter R. Hogan and Dalton R. Hogan. He was a retired truck driver and more recently from a paper route. He was of the Baptist faith. Nelson's favorite past-time was working with horses. Nelson is survived by one son, Levi Hogan of Vinton; two brothers, Charles M. Hogan of Texas and Jack Hogan of Vinton; two sisters, Betty Brown of New Castle and Gloria Jean Turnage of Arkansas. He is also survived by a special niece, Debbie Carter and her husband James "Blu" of Bedford and a special friend, Richard White of Bedford and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 1 p.m. in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Joppa Mill Rd., Bedford with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford is serving the family, 540-586-3443.
