Deola Merritt

Deola Merritt, 73, died Nov. 26, 1996, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 2, at Brundage Funeral Home.

She was born July 5, 1923, in Latuda, Utah. She moved with her family to the Dillon area in 1936.

After graduating from Beaverhead County High School in 1941, she went to work for the Navy in San Diego, Calif. She returned to Montana in 1964, and moved to Helena.

She married William Merritt in 1952. They returned to live in Dillon in 1956. She worked as a bookkeeper for several trucking companies on a part-time basis and went to work for the Dilmart in 1972 as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1988.

She is survived by a brother of Dillon; a son of Great Falls, and a daughter of Townsend.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Glenn, in 1990, and her husband, William, in 1977; also a grandson, Randy, in 1990.

Memorials are requested to the Dillon Volunteer Fire Department.
