John Willie Davis, 88, of Big Island, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Monday, June 9, 1919, in Bedford County, Virginia, a son of the late John William Davis and Dollie Ann Hensley Davis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, one son and one grandson. He was a retired Maintenance Worker with Eagle Eyrie and was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran. Surviving are his wife, Mary Madgaline Markham Davis; three sons, Kyle C. Davis, Barry K. Davis, John W. Davis & his wife, Christine, all of Big Island; two daughters & sons-in-Law, Patricia & James Harmon, of Big Island; Sheila & Larry Dolan, of Big Island; two sisters, six Brothers, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with Reverend Sam Jones and Reverend Eugene Campbell officiating. Interment, with military honors by American Legion Post # 16, will follow in Sedalia Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Friday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
