Alice Marie Van Camp
Age 93, of Tall Timber Rd. NE, New Philadelphia, lovingly left her daughter Vivian's arms and went into the loving arms of the angels and passed into eternal life, and went to hillbilly heaven Feb. 8, 2010. Alice was born Sept. 26, 1916 in Middlebourne, W.Va. to the late Daniel W. and Estella B. (Duggs) Blair. On April 22, 1936 she married Charles L. Van Camp who preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1985. They lovingly raised five children, Shirley (Don) Selway of Canton, Dorothy (George) Booker of Arnold, Md., Charles W. (Sonny) Van Camp Jr. who passed away Jan. 3, 2005, Roger (Carol) Van Camp of Edgewater, Md., and Vivian Van Camp, who was also her caregiver, and her fiancee, Mike Mitchell of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren who were very loved by Alice. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. One sister, Norma Snyder of Bradford, Pa. survives her. She is also survived by Chris (Dutton) Simmons and Nathan (Natalie) Simmons and family of Navarre. Also preceded by Randy Simmons of Phoenix, Ariz. and Megan Simmons of Navarre. She always considered the Simmons family as her own and loved Randy as a son, Chris as a daughter, and Megan and Nathan as her grandchildren. Also survived by Chris (Dale) George of Canton. She always thought of Chris as her daughter and loved her. Alice loved animals, especially her Collie dogs who have gone on to the 'Rainbow Bridge', Dusty, Charlie, Ginger and Tisha. She had a great love for her pet peacock, Sunshine. She is survived by her loving Australian Shepherd dog, Baby Bo. Alice loved country/western music since she was 12 years old and had a 'dream come true' at age 70, a trip to Nashville, Tenn. In the 1950's she had a fan club for Denver Bill and his Colorado Ranch Hands. Alice was always willing to help someone in need and expected nothing in return. Alice had a rough life, but she never complained. There will be no calling hours or services. Cremation will take place at Lebold Funeral Home in Bolivar.
