Katherine Sue Addington, 68, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Pomona, KS passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Atria Hearthstone Assisted Living, Topeka.

Katherine was born February 20, 1954, in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of James and Katherine (Gilmore) Parks.

Kathy grew up in Pomona, KS and graduated from Pomona High School with the Class of 1972. Katherine attended Emporia State Teachers College, the University of Kansas, and she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in 1975.

On December 30, 1978, Katherine was united in marriage to Mark Addington in Pomona. They lived in Tecumseh, KS and raised two beautiful daughters. Laura Beth and Rebecca Joan. They later divorced.

Kathy was a registered nurse for 43 years. She had a passion for taking care of people and was extremely proud of her work. She started her career at Memorial Hospital in Topeka and retired from Stormont Vail Hospital in 2018.

Kathy was a classically trained pianist and found great joy in playing her piano in her free time. She was an avid Wildcat fan and loved cheering on the Kansas State football team. Family and grandchildren were very important to her, and she always looked forward to the time they spent together.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two children, Laura Woodard (Joey) of Salina, KS, and Rebecca Addington (Tyler Furney) of Atlanta, GA; four siblings, David Parks of Wellsville, KS, Dennis Parks of Burlington, KS, Brian Parks of Wichita, KS, and Elizabeth Giffin (Kim) of Pomona, KS; two grandchildren, D.J. and Hannah Woodard; and many nieces and nephews.
