A funeral Mass for Lawrence Vincent Barmann, 94, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Maryville, Mo. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Maryville.
Mr. Barmann died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.
He was born Jan. 22, 1913, in Maryville, Mo., the son of Charles Augustus and Catherine Parle Barmann. He attended schools in Maryville, Mo., and Atchison. He moved to Lawrence in 2000.
Mr. Barmann served in the U.S. Army during World War II in England, France and the Philippines as a captain in the 755th Engineers Company.
He was a farmer in the Maryville area and raised grain and livestock. He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Maryville and Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Mr. Barmann married Margaret Marie Lawrence on Oct. 27, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives, of Lawrence.
Other survivors include three daughters, Ann Edwards and husband Robert, Leawood, Kathy Robbins and husband Mark, Lawrence, and Sue Buchanan and husband Richard, Charleston, S.C.; a son, Larry Barmann and wife Kathy, Red Oak, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Susanna Edwards, Christina Rauba, Mark Barmann, Angela Britten, Stephen Robbins, and Neal, Andrew and Hallie Buchanan; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan and Malia Baker, Lauren Rauba, Jasmine Barmann and Conor Britten.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul, George and Charles; and two infant sisters, Clare and Mary Barmann.
