Cecil Edward Barber, age 94 went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 25th, 2022. "Pete" was born July 31, 1927 in St. Cloud, Florida, and is a Fifth Generation Floridian. He was the son of Joseph and Garrie Barber. Pete married his high school sweetheart, Jean Earley Barber on July 25th, 1945. They celebrated their 76th Wedding Anniversary this past July. Pete served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. After the military, Pete worked as a fireman at Cape Canaveral from 1949 to 1963, working along side our pioneering astronauts. During the 50's, Pete raced Hydroplane Boats on the local lakes in Osceola County. Pete was a car salesman for Poffenbaugh Ford in St. Cloud for many years. In 2013, Pete was given a key to the city of St. Cloud for his service to the community. He was a volunteer for the St. Cloud Food Pantry from the late 1980's to 2014, and served as their chairman, Pete was an avid Bowler in the 70's, earning a 700 ring, and enjoyed playing Golf in his later years.

Pete leaves behind his devoted wife Jean, 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Barber.

A Viewing will be held at 10:30am with the service to follow at 11:00am at Eastern Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, March 5th. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery will follow the service.
