Arlene J. Burney, 79 years of age, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of DeWitt, Neb., passed away in Lincoln on Monday morning, Dec. 31, 2007.

She was born on July 11, 1928, at Cortland, Neb., to George and Hollis (Schell) Geistlinger. She was a graduate of Hardin High School in Hardin, Ky., and a graduate of the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Neb. She moved to DeWitt in 1944 and was a bookkeeper for the former Petersen Manufacturing Co. in DeWitt for about 20 years and a Home Health Care provider after her retirement from Petersen's. She moved to Lincoln in 1994. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in DeWitt and was a member of the United Methodist Women and had been a Sunday School teacher. She had been an active member of the DeWitt American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the Petersen Manufacturing bowling team. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing bingo.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda B. Fuhr, and Chellie Adams and husband Steven, all of Lewisville, Texas; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dewey Geistlinger and wife Claudine of DeWitt, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hollis (Schell) Geistlinger; and granddaughter, Serena Fuhr.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in DeWitt, Neb., with the Rev. Karl L. Lent officiating.

Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt. The body will lie in state Thursday from 1 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in DeWitt and at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday.
A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

A memorial has been established to the church with Russell and Meryl Zimmerman in charge.
