Adel Quillion Speiser influenced many students as a teacher for the Alamo Heights School District and Our Lady of the Lake College. Mrs. Speiser died Tuesday, December 24, 1985. She taught English, Speech, and Drama at Alamo Heights Junior School for years before earning a Master's Degree in Library Science and becoming a librarian at Alamo Heights High School. After retiring as a librarian in Alamo Heights, Mrs. Speiser taught as an Associate Professor of Library Science at the college, since renamed Our Lady of the Lake University. She retired again but was soon helping St. Benedict's School establish a library.

Mrs. Speiser was a former President of the Texas Library Association, a member of the Speech Arts Association, life member of the National Education Association, and a member of various other service and social organizations.

Services were help at Mission Burial Park South on Thursday afternoon. Her survivors include a daughter, Mozelle Q. Watkins; sister, Ethel Midge Langendorff; grandchildren, William Charles Watkins of San Angelo, and Midge W. McIntyre and Robert Q Watkins, both of San Antonio; and six great-grandchildren.
