Tasker Lee Capes, Jr. died at his home in Newnan March 11, 2021 at the age of 92. He was born in Nashville, TN, on November 21, 1928. He was married to Shirley Melson Capes of Norfolk, VA, for 71 years. He was the oldest son of Tasker Lee Capes and Susie Davis Capes of Moreland GA. He was pre=deceased by his sister and three brothers: Betty Lou, Bill, Charles, and Ralph.
He was a respected, family man, a Christian who grew up in the depression and had a strong work ethic. He loved sports and coached Little League baseball when he lived in Decatur, GA. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He spent many happy hours watching football, baseball and golf on television. His career as an accountant and credit advisor took him to Sealtest Food-Kraft Division, Irvindale Dairies and the Milk Market Administration of the Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Melson Capes and their three sons and their spouses: Terry and Debbie Capes of Seminole, FL; David and Cathy Capes of Houston, TX; and Paul and Laurie Capes of San Antonio, TX. He has five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
The graveside service celebrating Tasker's life is Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Newnan.
