Richard was born Jan. 5, 1937, in Essex, Mo. He retired from the Fort Worth Police Dept. after 40 years of service in January 2001. He dedicated his life to the department and family. His continuous optimism and honesty were unsurpassed. He was quoted as saying, "Success isn't measured by rank alone, but how much heart you put into what you do." His sacrifices were many and he always put his family first.
He was happily married for 43 years to his loving wife, Heidemarie. His well-earned retirement years were cut short by his incredible fight with cancer. Even during his last moments he never complained. He was loved and will be missed by many.
