Mary was the daughter of George Goodnight and Hannah Unknown. She was married (1) to General Washington King and (2) Niels W. Howe.

Mrs. N.W. Howe, Pioneer of A.C. Taken in Death.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Howe, Arkansas City pioneer, 75 years old and the widow of the late N.W. Howe, died at 10 o'clock Monday night at the home of her son, G.E. (Dick) King, 509 North E street. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Howe had been a resident of Arkansas City 48 years, coming here from Indiana, her native state. Mr. Howe died about five years ago. She was a member of the Central Christian church.

Surviving relatives are one son, G.E. King, this city; one daughter, Mrs. Nell A. Wilcox, El Dorado; five brothers, J.O. and William Goodnight, Arkansas City; Frank, Joe and George Goodnight, all of Englewood, Kans.; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Three step-sons also survive Mrs. Howe. They are Millard Howe, Arkansas City, and Walter and Elba Howe, Latham, Ind.

Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in Central Christian church. Rev. C.D. Walker will officiate. Interment will be in Parker cemetery, east of the city where Mr. Howe is buried. Oldroyd is in charge.
