Mr. Chisolm was born October 21, 1927, in Sand Rock, Alabama, the son of the late Carl Wesley and Lena Lawson Chisolm. He was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Coosa Valley Pest Control and Exterminating Company. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. Mr. Chisolm was also a Mason and a member of the Shriners.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Chisolm; a brother, Bill Chisolm; one sister, Marie Whiteside; one grandson, Lee Martin.
Mr. Chisolm is survived by his wife of 72 years, Martha Jo Chisolm; sons, Bob (Debra) Chisolm and Jessie (Shelena) Chisolm; daughters, Cindy (Freddy) Early, Kathy (Jack) Bond, Janice Martin, Beth (Tom) Dunn; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Chisolm will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Perennial Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Perennial Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Wilson, Eric Reynolds, Johnnie Martin, Darrell Wheate, Herb Skelton, Andy Allen, Mid Allen, Rusty Dooley, and Daniel Cook.
Mr. Chisolm will be in state at Perennial Springs Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Shriners (www.shrinersinternational.org).
Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
