FARMINGTON—Albert Claude Ellis,93, passed away at home on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
Claude was born June 18, 1928 in Malden, MA to Charles and Eurilla (MacNaught) Ellis. He graduated from Malden High School in 1946. and earned both bachelor's (1950) and master's (1957) degrees in education from Boston University.
Claude married Mae Holmberg in Malden, MA on Dec. 23, 1950, just before being deployed to Korea for two years with the US Army. They were married for 63 years.
Following his service, Claude resumed his teaching position at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. During his 40-year career, he served as teacher and director of physical education, principal and administrator. He also coached track and wrestling. "Coach" innovated adaptive technology to allow visually impaired students to participate in baseball, track and bowling. Some students joined him to run in the Boston Marathon, which he completed 18 times. After retirement, Mae and Claude moved to Farmington, NH.
Besides running, Claude enjoyed woodworking and playing guitar. He was a member of Medford Running Club, Lions Club and First Free Will Baptist Church in New Durham, NH.
Claude was predeceased by his wife Mae on July 12, 2014.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11am at First Freewill Baptist Church, 20 Depot Road, New Durham, NH with Rev. James Nason, pastor, officiating. A calling hour is prior to the service from 10-11am at church, family and friends are welcome. Interment will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington, NH.
