Bertha Matilda Cinfel, 93, died Nov. 28, 1998, at Countryside Home in Madison. Funeral services were held Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at New Zion Presbyterian Church, Clarkson. Rev. Earl F. Underwood Jr. officiated. Music was provided by the church choir, accompanied by Sally Goodman at the organ.

Pallbearers were Ron Tietgen, Jonathon Cinfel, Scott Long, Calvin Musil, Michael Long and Dale Smejkal.

Visiting hours were Nov. 30 at the Miller Funeral Home, Clarkson, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 1 in the church one hour prior to the funeral. Interment was at Bohemian National Cemetery, Clarkson.

Mrs. Cinfel was born May 1, 1905, in rural Clarkson to Diedrich and Gesina (Dinklage) Vahle. She attended Stanton County District 40. She married Charles Konopasek on March 7, 1923. He died Oct. 19, 1934. She married Frank Cinfel on Feb. 7, 1936, at the Presbyterian manse in Clarkson. They lived on a farm in Stanton County until 1945 when they moved to Clarkson. He died Feb. 11, 1976.

She lived in Clarkson until March 1991 when she became a resident of Countryside Home in Madison. She was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson, a member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid and Ruth Circle, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Clarkson and ZCBJ Lodge. Other activities included Woman's Club. She taught Sunday School and worked at the Presbyterian Church as caretaker for a number of years.

She is survived by two daughters, Ilene Long, Madison, Valdene and son-in-law, Alvin Tietgen, Norfolk; two sons, Donald Konopasek, Norfolk, and Frank Cinfel and daughter-in-law, Miriam, Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
