James L. Flott, age 81, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at Legends at Capital Ridge. He was born December 10, 1940 in Topeka the son of Orren and Ruby (Neely) Flott. Jim graduated from Highland Park High School in 1958. He was active in coaching Little league football and basketball. He also was a football and basketball official working in northeast Kansas area. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a carman and relief foreman before joining the Topeka Fire Department in 1972. He worked his way up through the ranks reaching the position of Head Arson Investigator until 1998 when he retired due to health reasons. He married Dixie L. Meires in 1986. She preceded him in death January 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Flott in 1980 and two brothers, Richard L. Flott and Robert E. Flott. He is survived by two sons, a step daughter, two step sons, and several grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
