Wilson Alton McGhee, 74, of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Salem. Born September 9, 1924, he was a son of the late Roy Bane McGhee and Pearl Ingram McGhee.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Austin and two brothers, Glen McGhee and Woodrow McGhee.

He was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Lane Furniture with 38 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy A. McGhee of the home; children; stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister Marie Austin of Ferrum; two brothers, Harold McGhee and Monroe McGhee, both of Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999, at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Jones and John Walke officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 1999, at the funeral home, where the family receive friends Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount is in charge of arrangements.
