He was born January 21, 1948 in Troy to the late Dale A. and Evelyn (Pitsenbarger) Lavey.
He married Barbara J. Thompson October 14, 1972 in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David Eric Lavey of Russia, Brad (Meredith) Lavey of Piqua; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph, Cora; and one brother, Mike (Anne) Lavey of Piqua.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Adrian Lavey; and two sisters, Vivian Lavey, and Edith Yahne.
Mr. Lavey was a 1967 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He worked as a foreman for B.F. Goodrich in Troy for over forty years and retired in 2008. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching football, especially the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes; and baseball where he closely followed the Cincinnati Reds and the Piqua Indians. David was a devoted family man and his life revolved around being a dedicated father, grandfather and husband. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family whether they were riding four wheelers, driving the golf cart or simply being together. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.
Private burial will be held at Miami Memorial Park, Covington where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad
