Joseph "Joe" Nicholas Abood, 64, of Berryville, Virginia passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 after a heroic battle with Covid 19 Pneumonia at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, VA.

Joe was born June 18, 1957 in Someville, NJ. He was the son of the late Aaron George Abood and Bernadine Terepan Abood.

While Joe had many unfinished plans with the love of his life Sara and daughter Dannika Lynne. The Almighty All powerful had other plans and escorted Joe to his mansion.

Joe Staring working early in life at the age of 13 pumping gas for his father's business American Auto Service. After graduating Manville High School, he entered the work force becoming an auto body technician for the family business American Auto Body in Manville, NJ. He worked there for a number of years, before making the career change into Security and then eventually Law Enforcement. He had been a Federal Contractor with Allied Security Services, Security Office with the VA Police, Law Enforcement and the Warren County Sheriff's Department Road Deputy. He did male modeling in New York, he was a member of a band in New Jersey called "Grim Reapers", and an AC/DC Cover Band in Stephens City, Virginia; Played acoustic guitar and drums, Member of the American Legion, and loved target shooting with his daughter. A proud member of the Army National Guard unit out of Leesburg, Virginia, whom he served with in the Iraq War Conflict, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Called to serve during Hurricane Katrina.

During his years in Manville, Joe's love of cars became evident. He owned many exclusive vehicles including a Porsche, Mercedes and Camaro Z-28. At this time, Joe also became interested in acting and attended acting classes in NYC. He starred in the many local plays in the area, and tried out for some Soap Operas and even an extra in some films. Joe became an avid history buff and became a Civil War Reenactor 2nd Maryland Infantry, Company A, CSA, the branched out into WWII 2/9 Marines Fox Company Reenactors and the Vietnam Era. He belonged to many History clubs including Airman Preservation Society, Army Air Corp preservation society. International Union SPFPA Member of the Security Police and Fire Professionals of America.

Joe had a unique since of humor and an uncanny knack for memorizing lines in movies and using those lines in everyday life. He could impersonate actors and someone he just met- his memory skills were impeccable. He loved to recall stories from years past and never forgot details.

In 1999, he moved to Virginia to continue his history reenacting. At the time he became employed at Adessa Auto Action, Dulles, Virginia.

Joe met his beloved wife Sara in 2007 at Lake Holiday through a mutual friend, Chris Willis and both Joe and Sara worked local law enforcement.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Shackelford Abood, daughter age 13, Dannika Lynne Abood, of Berryville, Virginia; the cocker spaniel, Melvin and the cat, Mittins; brother, James and Patti Abood, of Forked River, NJ; a sister, Irene and John Ferra, of DuBois, PA, a half-sister, Christine Abood, of Manville, NJ; 2 paternal Aunts Evelyn Barnish, of Hillsborough, NJ, Marie Gallagher, of Littleton, CO and maternal Uncle Robert Terepan, of DuBois, PA as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home,310 S. Fairfax Blvd. Ranson, WV 25438 with Pastor John Bethard officiating.

Interment will be in St. Leo Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, 2109 Sulphur Springs Road, Inwood, WV 25428.
