Fanny was the next-to-youngest of George and Harriett Verrall's 13 children. George had left his job as schoolmaster at the National school in Ditchling so that he and his family could immigrate to Canada. Fanny fell ill and died at sea on the Ship H.C. Kidston. According to the Quebec Vital and Church records 1621-1967, Fanny was buried the next day at Grosse Île in Quebec by a traveling missionary of the Church of England, the Rev. Charles Henry Stewart.
