Verna Brusso - Formerly of Ayton, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, Hanover on Thursday, June 18, 2015. She was 87. Born in Normanby Township, on May 15, 1928, daughter of the late Lincoln and Katharina (née Becker) Becker. Verna was a Woman of Faith at Trinity Lutheran Church Ayton and a member of the Hanover Legion Branch #130 Ladies Auxiliary. Survived by nieces Louise Schenk (Wayne Douglas) of Minto Township, Jane Schenk (Christopher Hand) of Fredericton, N.B., great-nieces Olivia Douglas and Genevieve Douglas both of Minto Township, Sarah Hand and great-nephew William Hand both of Fredericton, N.B., godsons Kenneth (Linda) Brusso of Normanby Township and Stephen Grein of Guelph. Verna will be fondly remembered by her cousins Ruth (Paul) Pfeffer of Ayton, Bernice (Bob) Brandon of Elora, Marie McRonald of Durham, Mildred Becker of Hanover, Betty (Bruce) Dinniwell of Barrie, and Audrey Thompson of Durham. Predeceased by her beloved husband William "Bill" Brusso in 1988, a brother in infancy and cousins Earl Becker, Victor Thompson, James Peters, Harvey Becker, and Arnold Becker. Visitation was held at MIGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Hanover, on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ayton. Pastor Heather Spencer-Stoltz officiated. Interment followed in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Ayton. Memorial donations to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ayton, or charity of your choice were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
