Donald "Chuck" Gene Craver, age 81, of Moravia, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Monroe Care Center in Albia.

Don was born at Galleyville, a coal mining camp, located at the south edge of Centerville, Iowa on May 23, 1940. He was the middle of three sons born to Clyde Vest and Marguerite (Buttel) Craver. In 1946, at age 5, Donald attended Primary, at Number 30 rural school, Vermillion Township, Appanoose County, Iowa. His teacher was Bertha Cernich. He later attended Centerville Schools, including Lincoln and Central Ward Grade Schools, Washington Junior High School and graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1959. On March 5, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Linda Sue Krum in Centerville, and to this union, three children were born, Donna, Pam and Jeff.

For six years during Junior High and High school, Don was a carryout boy for Thriftway and Safeway in Centerville. After high school graduation, he went to work for Paul Staley as a construction worker for one year. He then went to work for Steele Packing in Centerville as a route man. Don worked there for eight years before he accepting a position for Coca Cola Bottling as a route man. He worked at Coca Cola for eight years before he left to work at Jones Dairy, later known as Swiss Valley, in Corydon, Iowa, also as a route man. In 1981 he began working as a semi-truck driver for Anderson Erickson Dairy in Des Moines, Iowa. He continued this, and retired in 2000 with A&E. In his spare time, Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.

Left to honor Don's memory are his daughter, Donna (David) Pettibone; son-in-law, Richard Pauley; grandchildren, Becky Cline, Nickie (Jesse) Crow, Tiffany (Travis) Hamilton, Brettany (Chris) Hamilton, Kelsey (Doug) Stevens, Jim (Becca) Craver, and Tabatha (Ryan) Unruh; a brother, Gary Craver of Centerville; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a niece, Christina Craver; a nephew, Robert Craver; his beloved dog, Sam; as well as several extended family members.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Marguerite Craver; his wife, Linda Craver; a son, Jeff Craver; his daughter, Pam Pauley; a brother, Richard Craver; his grandson, Seth Craver; and a great-grandson, Kaehlin David Sage Craver.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will follow the service at Dale Cemetery, north of Centerville. Visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 beginning at 9AM, with the family greeting friends from 12-1PM.
