Mr. James (Jim) William Sloan, 66, of Hartsville, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, after a short illness, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC.

Born in Waycross, GA on June 1, 1955, he was a native of Blackshear until adulthood. He moved with his employment a few times before settling in Hartsville, SC twenty years ago. He was previously employed with CSX Railroad and was a mobile home salesman for over 35 years in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Jim was a loving husband, father, and Papa. He enjoyed NASCAR and golf, and he was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He also loved spending time at the beach.

Jim was the son of the late Faye (husband, Dudley) Proctor and the late Hubert (wife, Leona) Sloan. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brandy Sloan, a brother, Jerry Sloan, and a sister, Janelle Hickox.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marion Sloan of Hartsville, SC; five children, Clay (wife, Billy Faye) Hobbs of Macon, Gina (husband, Ed) Jeffords of Jesup, Nick (wife, Micaela) Hobbs of Watkinsville, Hank (wife, Debbie) Hobbs of Hazlehurst, and Mandy Sloan O'Bannon of Ringgold; a brother, Hubert Sloan Jr. of Blackshear, step-siblings Robert (wife, Glenda) Griffin of Douglas, Tony (wife, Michelle) Griffin of Blackshear, and Connie (husband, George) Dryden of Hoboken; 8 grandchildren, Tracey, Austin, Addison, Leila, Mairen, Kristin, Megan, and Jadon; 1 great grandchild; a special niece, Caprecia Sloan Betchan (husband, Tom), and several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Jim will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:00 o'clock at the Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Loren Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
