Larry was born July 15, 1929 in Trece, Kansas to Harry and Zella (Thomas) Chaney. He spent his early childhood in Gravette, Arkansas and later moved to Wichita, Kansas where he attended High School and Friends University. On November 20, 1950, Larry was united in marriage to Beverly Heilman in Wichita, KS. Larry proudly served in the United States Army until receiving an honorable discharge.
Larry was employed by the Social Security Administration where he served as District Manager in Grand Island, NE and Springfield, MO.
He was a past president of Goodwill, United Way, and the Lions Club. Larry was also active with Meals on Wheels and the King's Way UMC in Springfield, MO. In his free time Larry was an avid golfer and a fan of the Missouri State Lady Bears.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Chaney of Kearney; sons, Greg (Bunny) Chaney of Ham Lake, MN and Scott (Debbie) Chaney of Kearney; daughter, Susan (Mike) Healey of Castle Rock, CO; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, AlbaDean Chaney of Siloum Springs, AR; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer Chaney; and his sister, Willa Roark.
