Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth (Kaiser) McCarroll, age 84, of Karnes City, passed away Sept. 16, 2009. She was born May 26, 1925 to Otto P. and Elizabeth Hartzendorf Kaiser.

Dot graduated from Karnes City High School in 1942. After her 1943 graduation from Alamo City Business College, San Antonio, Dot worked for Alamo National Bank in that city for six years.

In 1945, Dot married Lt. Francis D. "Mack" McCarroll of Tennessee. After 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, they settled in Biloxi, Miss. In 1983, they made their retirement home in Karnes City.

Dot was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; the Garden Club; the Craft Club in Karnes City, as well as a life member and past officer of the Pink Ladies Volunteer Auxiliary at Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital, Kenedy; and past secretary of the Rebecca Circle of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a supporter of the OKMH, the KCVFD, and the San Antonio Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. Dot was also on the board of the Karnes City Cemetery Association.

Dot is survived by her son and daughter-in-law [names omitted].

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Maj. Francis D. McCarroll (U.S.A.F., ret.).

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City with interment following in the Karnes City Cemetery. Pastor David Collins III will officiate.

Pallbearers will be members of the Karnes City Volunteer Fire Department.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church; Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital; the Pink Ladies of Otto Kaiser; the Karnes City Volunteer Fire Department or American Red Cross.
