Sherrie Leah Mangold, 72 of Rio Medina Texas passed away peacefully on October 26, 2018. Sherrie was born in Castroville, Texas on March 16, 1946 to parents, Harvey and Lillian Haby of Rio Medina, Texas. Sherrie shared 53 years of marriage with the love her life, Calvin Mangold of Hondo, Texas. Sherrie was an accomplished business women launching a long banking career with Frost National Bank in the 1960s and advanced to the Vice President of Credit for JPMorgan Chase where she retired in the early 2000's. She was a strong and compassionate woman that will be remembered for her devotion to her family. She loved traveling through the snowcapped mountains of Denver, Colorado with her husband, Calvin as John Denver played over the radio as they headed to Central City for weekends of entertainment. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She made Christmas magical with a "grandkids only" cookie making day, elaborate scavenger hunts with hay rides, hot chocolate and clues in search of presents, and on Christmas Eve she would give each of her grandchildren an ornament that reminded her of the time spent with them or of a milestone that they accomplished that year. Every year, she beamed as she told the story behind each ornament as her grandchildren hung them on the Christmas tree. Sherrie will be greatly missed but the memories made with her as a wife, a mother, and a grandmother will be forever in our hearts. Sherrie is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
