Robert W. Ayres, 84, passed away at home on October 18, 2015. He was born in Long Branch to the late Warren and Cornelia (Hance) Ayres and after became a lifelong resident of Eatontown.
Robert was a college administrator for 20 years for Monmouth University and he proudly served our country in the Army.
He was also a member of the North Shrewsbury iceboat and Yacht Club where he was a past Commodore and was a longtime Pop Warner coach in Eatontown.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Rosemary Ayres, his son, Robert J. Ayres and his daughter, Susan Hunt.
Surviving are his children and daughter in law: Daniel Ayres of PA, Marilyn Ayres of DC and Brian and Maureen Ayres of West Long Branch. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Christina Kelly and Jessica, Sean and Jason Ayres as well as a great grandchild, Christian Kelly.
A memorial gathering will take place at Braun Funeral Home 106 Broad Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 on Thursday October 22, 2015 from 6-8PM. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Dorothea's RC Church in Eatontown on Friday October 23 at 10AM with burial of cremated remains to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
