STOCKBRIDGE
Tart Rowe, 72, of this place, who was at work on the state highway, was struck and killed by an automobile on the Seneca turnpike one mile west of Canastota Friday, the 13th, about 10 A. M. The passing car was driven by Miss Bertha Ayers of Canastota. Mr. Rowe had been employed by the state department of highways for the past four years and at the time of the fatal accident was working with Peter Tierney of Chittenango and Fred Manwarren of Oneida, tarring the road. The body which was removed to the undertaking rooms at Canastota was brought to his home here Saturday afternoon where services were held Monday conducted by Rev. O. M. Case, with burial in the Stockbridge cemetery. Mr. Rowe was twice married, his first wife being Miss Mary Jane Dawley of Camden. Seven children were born to them all of whom survive. He also leaves his widow, who was Miss Cora Dawley. a sister of the former wife and a sister as well as fifteen grandchildren. There were many beautiful floral tributes which testified to the love of family and friends.

Son of Isaac & Hannah Adams Rowe of Constantia, NY. Tart married 1st 1 Jan. 1881 in Camden, NY to Mary Jane Dawley and was father to 7 children. He married 2d 1922 Cora H. Dawley, sister of his 1st wife. Tart was accidentally killed by a car, driven by Bertha Ayers of Canastota, while working with a crew during road construction when he was 71 years old.
