George Washington Augehbaugh was the son of Johann George & Sarah Brua Aughenbaugh and the husband of Elizabeth Melvina Eyster Aughenbaugh. In 1860, he was a teacher living in York Borough. He stood 5' 10" tall and had brown hair and blue eyes.
He enlisted in York August 22, 1864, with Co. H, 200th Pa Inf, at the rank of private but was promoted to corporal September 1, 1864, and to sergeant the following December 1. Honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.
