Dorothy was born July 24, 1939 in Pipestem, WV to the late Vivian and Mamie (Neely) Farley.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by the love of her life husband James L. McBride, brother Vivian Edward Farley, sister-in-law Margaret Farley, brother-in-law, Charles E. Nelson, her beloved niece, Coleen M. Farley and two adored baby nieces, Deborah Kay and Kelly Leigh Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, the most important part of her life, Brenda Sue and son-in-law John Pendleton, one grandson, her most prized possession, Justin K. Browning, her best friend and sister, Jewell L. Nelson, her loved and adored nephew, Edward Farley and his two children, Tera and Chase Farley. They were all the light of her life and held a very special place in her heart. Along with her cherished nephew, Chuck Nelson, Dorothy had a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. Each one meant more to her than words can describe.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dorothy. This could be a weekly shopping trip with her family, working a puzzle, reading the newspaper, a walk on the train tracks or phone call to her sister just to reminisce about their childhood days and growing up on the farm. Dorothy also found immense enjoyment feeding the birds and squirrels that visited her yard daily. She was an avid race fan. Dorothy never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, expecting nothing in return but friendship. She always thought of others before thinking of herself. She was ever calm, fervent, and serene in her faith in God. Dorothy was always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind. She was proud of her family.
A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor David Barnett officiating.
