GILBERT SMUIN DIES AT SL VETERAN'S HOSPITAL.

George Gilbert Smuin, 44, Provo Canyon, died Sunday at 6:27 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. He was a veteran of the World War.

Mr. Smuin was born in Vernal, April 16, 1896, a son of William B. and Eliza A. Kendall Smuin.

Surviving are his mother of Vernal, his widow, Mrs. Nellie Slaugh Smuin of Provo Canyon, five daughters, Mrs. Vera Billings and Mrs. Cleo Paulson, both of Jensen and Gilda, Sharon and Wanda Smuin, all of Provo Canyon; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Johnson, Mrs. Katie Johnson and Mrs. Edna Nelson, all of Vernal and Mrs. Iva Hollenbeck of Oakland, California and our brothers, Hyrum, Gardenand Alvin Smuin, all of Vernal and Levi Smuin of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held at the Davis Ward Chapel Wednesday at 1:30.

George Gilbert Smuin, 44, died at 6:27 a.m. on December 15, 1940 in the Veterans Administration Facility of complications due to pneumonia. He had been in the hospital 10 days. His residence was in the Provo Canyon.

He was born April 16, 1896 in Vernal, Uintah County, Utah to Eliza Ann Kendall Smuin and William Bradford Smuin.

He married Nellie Ray Slaugh October 30, 1919. They had ten children. His occupation was a day laborer with Relief Project.

Interment was made in the Vernal Memorial Cemetery on December 19, 1940.
