Expert skier, backcountry enthusiast, hiker, and climber. He was the son of Margaret Kemper Trudeau, and the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who served as PM from 1968 to 1980. Trudeau was on a skiing trip with friends at the Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park in the Selkirk Mountains, in British Columbia, Canada, on November 14, 1998, when he was swept in to the Kokanee Lake by an avalanche.
