Died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1986, at her residence in Covington. She was 80, a native of New Orleans. She was a jewelry designer. Memorial services at her residence at Red Bluff, six miles north of Covington on Hwy. 25, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. Survived by a son, Garic Kenneth Barranger, Covington; a sister, Nellie Garic McCollum; a granddaughter, Heather Dalton Barranger. Preceded in death by husband, Dalton Joseph Barranger. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Playmakers Building Fund, 209 N. New Hampshire St., Covington 70433. Schoen Funeral Home Inc., Covington, in charge of arrangements. COVINGTON -- A memorial service for artist Miriam G. Barranger has been scheduled Feb. 15, and people who have jewelry made by her are requested to wear it to the service, according to a spokeswoman for Schoen Funeral Home.
Barranger, 80, died Wednesday. Her body is to be cremated and the ashes are to be spread on the grounds of her home.
The service is set for 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at her home in Red Bluff, six miles north of Covington on La. 25. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Playmakers Building Fund, 209 N. New Hampshire St., Covington, La. 70433.
Barranger was a member of the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibit of American Craftsmen and numerous other fine arts organizations.
