Mr. Bennie "Ray" NeeSmith, age 77, passed away, Monday, February 7, 2022, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro after a sudden illness.

The lifelong native of Toombs County was born and raised in Cedar Crossing.

He lived and worked on his parent's farm, and went on to serve in the US Army. Ray worked for the Toombs County Road Department and retired after sixteen years of service.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fox hunting, reading books, riding horses and motorcycles, watching Western movies and WWE wrestling, and spending time with his family.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie NeeSmith and Beulah Claxton NeeSmith; and his brother, Donald NeeSmith.

His family includes his wife of fifty-three years, Wanda "Faye" Kirkley NeeSmith; one daughter, Alicia Partin and husband Lester, all of Lyons; one son, Rayford NeeSmith and wife Vickie of Vidalia; grandchildren, Ramie Davis and husband Ryan of Lyons, Jeffrey NeeSmith of Okinawa, Japan, Raylee NeeSmith of Lyons, Allison Conrad and Craig Conrad, both of Vidalia; great-grandchildren, Slayden and Samuel Davis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 9th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Earl Wiggins and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until just prior to the service.
