Lillian M. "Lil" (Cole) Hinkle, 90, of Temple, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Berks Heim Nursing Home.

Born December 28, 1931 she was a daughter to the late Edward L. and Martha (Stepulitis) Cole. Lillian was the wife of the late Charles W. Hinkle whom she married December 28, 1948 having shared 63 years of marriage at the time of his passing on April 12, 2012.

Lil was a devoted wife and loving mother. Affectionally called "Lil on the hill" by all her friends and family, she was always smiling and had the most infectious optimistic attitude. Lillian loved sewing and made all of her children's clothing when they were growing up. She also frequently would knit hats and scarfs for the homeless and cancer patients at various hospitals. She also loved butterflies. You could often find her wearing butterfly jewelry or pins everywhere she went.

Lil is survived by her daughters, Charlene L. Leisey, wife of Barry Leisey of Reading and Cheryl L. Machemer, wife of Terry L. Machemer of Robesonia. Also surviving is 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Granddaughter, Michelle Pyle, was her primary caregiver.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her children, Charmaine L. Hinkle, Daniel C. Hinkle, Christine L. Barr and one brother, Edward R. Cole.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 10:00am – 11:00 am with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am at the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. Interment will be held in Alsace Cemetery.
