The daughter of Julia McPherson and Henry White, she was born in Erwin, NC and was graduated from the St. Leo's Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as a pediatric nurse and later with the Guilford County Health Department. Betty continued to help and care for others by volunteering in the ER at Cone Hospital for 25 yrs.
Betty was active in the First Presbyterian Church and especially enjoyed the fellowship of the Agape Sunday School Class. She enjoyed golf, cooking, and was an avid tennis fan following her grandson, John, at every opportunity. She was a long time member of the Buds n' Blossoms garden club and the Bookmarker book club. Above all she loved and treasured her family and friends.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and generosity of their neighbors and friends and to Dr. John Russo, His nurse Melissa, and his entire wonderful staff. They were truly sustained by their endless outpouring of love and compassion.
