Richard Scott Jones Acker, 72, of Beckville, Texas, was born September 16, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, to Richard Everett and Imogene Burris Jones. He was later adopted by Tommy Eual and Olive Allen Acker. He attended school in Carmi, Illinois, Longview, Texas, graduated from Beckville High School in 1967, and attended Panola College. Mr. Acker served in the the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Scott married Florence Diane Powell on July 16, 1971 in Longview and they celebrated 50 years together. He worked for the City of Beckville, the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 20 years. Mr. Acker was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Harris Chapel Community and was baptized in 1963. He loved wood working, sports, family, gardening, studying God's word, and heated discussions on world events. Scott is preceded in death by his biological and adopted parents; brother-in-law, Bruce Maines; nieces and nephew, Cassie Talu Acker, Lisa Hicks Brinkman and Dewayne Acker.
