GALENA, Kan. - Roy Clayton Porter, 80, Galena route 2, well-known stockman of the Tri-State Area, died at 11:57 am. Saturday at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin following more than two years of ill health.

Mr. Porter was born Sept. 30, 1896, in Galena, and was a lifetime resident of the city. He was employed as turbine operator for the Empire District Electric Plant at Riverton for 37 years, retiring Oct. 1, 1981. He was a member of Baxter Springs Masonic Lodge, AF & AM for over 50 years. He also was a member of Galena First Christian Church and had served two terms on the Galena City Council. He married Bertha Wilson Jan. 2, 1919, in Carthage. Mo. She survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, James Porter, Galena route 2; a daughter, Miss Arnetta Porter, of the home; his stepmother, Mrs. Ella Porter, Lowell; three brothers, Walter Porter, Galena route 2, Richard Porter, Baxter Springs, and Willard Lea, Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Ruth Berry, Baxter Springs route 1; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be announced by Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.

GALENA, Kan. - Services for Roy Clayton Porter, 80, Galena route 2, who died Saturday at St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, following two years of ill health, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Galena Christian Church.

Edward Baker, Gordon Venturella and Eugene Wilson, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, under direction of Derfelt Funeral Home. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Baxter Springs Masonic Lodge, AF&AM.

Pallbearea (sic) will be, Jimmy Porter, Jerry Porter, Larry Porter, Edwin Porter, Eugene Porter and Ricky Porter.
