C.W. "Bill" Cobb
October 28, 1914 - December 30, 2007
Batesville , AR

Bill Cobb, 93, of Batesville died Sunday, December 30, 2007.

Born October 28, 1914, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of Arthur Cobb and Ouida Fulton Cobb.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in London during World War II, and amazingly went from corporal to master sergeant in one year for implementing a record keeping program for soldiers.

He was the manager of Arkansas Lime and Cement Company in Batesville for decades, an alderman on the Batesville City Council, a member of the American Legion, president of the Batesville Country Club, and member of the Batesville Rotary Club.

Bill most enjoyed the feeling he got when he was doing something for someone he loved. He had a great mind for details, a great sense of humor, and was very strong-willed—especially about being useful to others. He liked big bands and singing groups like the Mills Brothers. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved to make fudge for family and friends. But the one accomplishment that pleased him most was his ability to become close to people in a very down-to-earth way.

He is survived by a grandson, Jeff Cobb, and great-grandson CW Cobb, both of St. Louis, Missouri, two nieces, Meg and Helen Laughlin, and a brother, Jesse Cobb of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Angie Casey Cobb, a son, James William Cobb, four sisters, and two brothers.

A memorial service was held at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville.

Burial at Oaklawn Cemetery was private.
