Allen W. Barr, 72, of Throop, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Carol Ann Cotton.

Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Clinton W. and Anna R. Schaffer Barr. He was educated in Easton area schools. He was employed by Laz Parking, working at Mercy Hospital Parkade, Scranton. He served honorably with the Army in Korea; he was with the Army Reserve in Phillipsburg, N.J., and Easton. He was a life member of VFW Post 7963, Eynon, PA.

Allen loved to play pool and bowling. He enjoyed bringing pleasure to everyone he met. He showed his love for the holidays and his American pride by decorating not only himself with all the festive hats, but also by decorating his booth at work with the American flags.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospital staff for all their wonderful care through this rough time.

He is survived by 12 children, Tim; Bruce; Darlene Ann Fisher and husband, Keith; Denise Ann Hoy and husband, John; Joseph Barr and wife, Barbara; Carol Ann Barbur and husband, Rex; Randy Barr; Michael Barr; Michael Cassidy and wife, Tina; Robyn Hopwood and husband, Dave; James Cassidy and wife, Christina; and Jennifer Lorenzo and fiancée, Rich Morgan; 36 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton F. Barr and Harold A. Barr; a sister, Carolyn J. Meinhart; and nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Dale Barr; two brothers, George H. Barr and Royce R. Barr; and a twin sister, Alice A. Klemka.
