David Lee Rountree, 75, of Chesapeake, went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of March 13, 2021. Mr. Rountree was born in Norfolk, VA to the late, Gayle Rufus Rountree, Sr. and Ruth Ann Rountree.
David was an Army veteran and served our country during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in the field and two Purple Hearts for being wounded in action. David went on to be a farmer for 40 years and he loved it. He was a member of the Deep Creek Ruritan Club and a member of the Izaak Walton League of America.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Rountree; sons, David L. Rountree, Jr. and Daniel L. Rountree; brothers, Gayle "Sonny", Ronald A. and Alvin Ray "Butch" Rountree; grandchildren, Trevor Ward and Hailey Rountree and their mother, Tina Ward.
A graveside service is planned for a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in David's memory to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
