Dwight Pettyjohn, 76, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 31, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born in the Summerville/Rome area of Georgia and moved to Lake City in 1951, where he has made his home since. He served in the National Guard and was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church in Lake City; and in his spare time, he enjoyed tending to his cows, working on the farm, riding and traveling with his wife. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Gene and Bill Pettyjohn.
He is survived by his wife of almost 22 years, Melinda Pettyjohn of Lake City; son, James Dwight "J.D." Pettyjohn, II (Bridgette) of High Springs; daughter, Pamela Pettyjohn of Fort White; step-son, Travis Murphy (Breanna) of Lake City and step-daughter, Tiffany Balster (Brian) of Lake City. Eight grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends also survive.
